2020 Sacramento Women's March LEAGUE MEMBERS march in the 2020

Sacramento Womens March.  This year we celebrate 100  years of the League of Women Voters while we continue to march for the right to vote while also registering voters, educating citizens and sponsoring candidate forums.

As we marched we encouraged others to become involved citizens.  Join us on Saturday, January 25, 2020, 9:30 - 11:30 am for a new member orientation and all member refresher, "MAKING DEMOCRACY WORK".   If you can plan ahead, RSVPLearn how to contribute to the  Sacramento League, meet new people while making a positive impact in the community. 

(Location: Casa Garden, 2760 Sutterville Rd., Sacramento.)  If you cannot attend the general meeting on January 25th, contact Roseanne Chamberlain for a individual or small group meet-up!

What are some of our activities?

The League of Women Voters of Sacramento County is an organization of both women and men that welcomes diversity, equity and inclusion.  Located in California's Capitol, League of Women Voters of Sacramento County is uniquely positioned to participate in the study of political issues at both the local and state level.

New members welcome to orientation and refresher!

We will have an orientation on Saturday, January 25, 2020.  Lots of good information about ways you can immediately contribute to voter participation in Sacramento

Become a member to join an active and engaging group of people!  Participation in a reputable organization such as the Sacramento League gives your voice more power.

  • The Sacramento League launched an education campaign about Ranked Choice Voting used in some cities to rank candidates in order of preferences.   Let us know if your group would like information on  voter education, voter registration or Ranked Choice Voting
  • The Sacramento League was recently featured as a case study in the book Vote for US, by Joshua Douglas, Ph.D.  He tells the story of how we led a governance reform effort in Sacramento.
  • The League of Women Voters Sacramento County has an Observer Corps for the Sacramento Police Review Commission and we are working on something for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department as well.
  • Suffragists Club members provide extra funding for League activities and celebrate our annual Anne Rudin schlarship winner. To join, see the various membership levels.

Where do we teach people about voting? (past events)

  • Voter registration training for Sacramento Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women.
  • Voter registration with ProYouth and Families.
  • Voter registration at pet vaccination clinics.
  • Support for the Registrar's Office with extra mock elections.
  • Distribution of voter materials in Sacramento area Post offices.

  • Candidate Forum, Carmichael Library, 1/22/2020
  • Voter registration at CSUS in Hinde Auditorium, 1/24/20, 1/25/20 and 3/25/20
  • Candidate Forum for District 6 City Council Candidates (Eric Frame, Eric Guerra, Waverly Hamilton III, Kevin Rooney), Elmhurst Neighborhood Association at the Masonic Hall o 4647 U Street, 2/10/20.

Founder of the League of Women Voters, Carrie Chapman Catt (January 9, 1859 – March 9, 1947) was peace activist before becoming a guiding force in the women's suffrage movement.

Your Suffragist Club dues provide additional financial support for the many activities our League offers to encourage active and informed voter participation in our democracy. You may send your donation of $100 or more to the LWVS Suffragist Club when you pay your annual membership dues.
