2020 Program Planning Meeting – Highlights

Twenty one members and guests attended the January 25 Program Planning Meeting.  Deb Humphreys, our League's 2nd Vice President and program organizer led us in a World Cafe format.  We broke into small groups for three rounds of dialogue on each question, facilitated by the table hosts.  We summarized the results of our discussions on flip charts and a spokesperson from each table reported on the results of the discussion at their table.  The local issues that emerged from the program planning meeting in
January are land use, water, homelessness, civil discourse, voter outreach, education, and membership engagement and
motivation. The board will vote on a proposal to address these issues at the March 6 meeting.  A proposed program for 2020 – 2021 will be included in the Annual Meeting packet to be voted on by our entire membership at our Annual Meeting on May 30, 2020.

Julie Rodewald, Voter Services Director, reviewed our 2019-2020 voter service highlights including voter registration, candidate forums, Voter’s Edge, and Adopt-a-Poll activities that we are currently engaged in.  We held a successful Voter Service training last October and have been pleased that so many members have volunteered to work on the Voter Service activities.  We will continue our high school voter registration this winter and spring in classrooms across the county.

Janice Carr, Co-Chair of the Centennial Celebrations Committee, presented an update on activities for the 2020 anniversary celebrations.
